Homecoming

The calm before the storm! Thanks to Mrs. Ross (and Alex) for their hard work on this year's float. It looks good here even if it didn't get paraded uptown.

Talawanda 1 Harrison 0

The Varsity Boys team grinded out a tough 1 to nothing win in a 'cage match' against league foe Harrison last night. After a scoreless first half AFS sensation Aldemar Motta crossed a beautiful ball from the end line to Andrew Jarvi who headed it behind the unsuspecting Harrison keeper. One goal was all that would be needed to beat the Wildcats as net minder Kevin Jewett kept the shutout. The 4th FAVC win improves the Braves to 6--5 and 1 one overall and moves them into first place in the standings.

The JV team gave up a halftime lead to lose 2 to 1. Freshman Kyle Baker scored the lone goal.

The Braves next match is against Mt. Healthy one week from today.

Talawanda 2 - Centerville 1

Your Talawanda Braves mens soccer team faced the top ranked Centerville Elks in Oxford Saturday afternoon. Centerville were the Ohio Division I runners up last season, and had not lost a regular season game to an out of league opponent in almost a decade. The Braves knew if they were going to run with the big dogs it was time to get off the porch.

Talawanda's defense led by Andrew Marks, Dylan Bailey-Van Kuren, and Ben Hesford held a scoreless tie till halftime, but the Elks drew first blood with an early goal in the second. Senior Midfielder Nathaneal Robinson answered soon thereafter to tie the game 1-1. Then it was Brazilian sensation Aldemar Motta who came streaking 40 yards down the center of the field to assist what would be the game winner. Adrew Jarvi received the pass, calmly turned, and slotted it home. GOOOAAALLL ! Despite numerous threats in the final minutes, goalie Kevin Jewett kept the ball out of the net to give Talawanda the historic upset.

At the final whistle it was Braves 2- Centerville 1!

The Soccer team's next match is against Edgewood at home Thursday night.

Should We Talk About the Weather?

From 100+ to rain and mud the Braves have weathered it all in recent weeks. The play on the field has mirrored the changes in the temperature. After a muddy loss to Norwood in the final seconds the team bounced back to tie 7th ranked Wyoming on their field. Similarly the JV team put up 6 against the Indians only to give up that many to Moeller Tuesday. Like the weather, the only thing that is certain is that if you give it a day its bound to change. Forecast: 100% chance of Winning!
