Talawanda senior signs letter of intent to play college soccer

Talawanda senior JT Brown is flanked by his parents, Diane and Mark, after signing his letter of intent to play soccer at Bethel College, where his older brother, Justin, already plays.

National Signing Day on Feb. 3 received a heavy focus on football, but one Talawanda senior took the opportunity to sign his letter of intent to play college soccer.
JT Brown will take his skills on the pitch to Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., this fall.
Bethel was one of the senior’s top three choices during recruiting, but the school really had an advantage over the other possibilities in part because his brother, Justin, already plays for the Pilots.

Talawanda 4 Northwest 1

Led by a pair of goals and an assist from Senior Captain Matt Wise, your Braves Soccer team vanquished the Knights of Northwest  4 to 1.

With the game tied at  'ones' at the half the Braves rallied in the second.  Brazilian international Eduardo Rossi and Sophomore sensation Kelvin Reisenfeld each adding goals in the rout.

The Braves improve to 2 and 1 in league play with their hopes of clinching a championship still very much alive.

Earlier in the evening the Junior Varsity tied nil-nil to continue their undefeated campaign.  Goalkeepers Wyatt Hornsby and Dallas Josey with the shutout.

The Braves are off until next Wednesday when they start a 4 game road trip to Union County, Little Miami,  Cincinnati LaSalle, and Edgewood.

Braves 2 Kings 2

The Braves hit the reset button after a disappointing loss to Princeton Wednesday and tied Kings 2-2 this morning.  Matt Wise headed in a 35 yard free kick from Chris Bowen in the first half to get the scoring started.   The Knights came back but sophomore Kelvin Reisenfeld broke the tie to give the Braves the 1 goal lead at half.

With temperatures on the field in the 90s in the second  it was a battle against the heat.  Unfortunately the Braves couldn't hold on and gave up the tying goal in the final minutes. The 2-2 result is nothing to hang our heads about as it was the best in 4 years.

Earlier in the morning the JV team maintained their undefeated record with a 1-0 victory;  Alex Pohlabel the lone goal scorer.   Credit the goalkeeping duo of Wyatt Hornsby and Dallas Josey with the shutout.
